SOLO Essential Disability Income will help your clients get through an interruption in their income if they cannot work due to an accident or illness.
It provides your clients with a monthly amount to help them maintain their lifestyle and more importantly, meet any additional expenses related to their disability.
Designed for workers with a higher risk occupation, self-employed or contract worker, client with a preexisting medical condition who cannot get traditional disability insurance.

Main features
Guaranteed acceptance and simplified issue
Three simple pre-qualifying questions for Accident coverage, with neither proof of income nor underwriting required. This allows us to issue Accident coverage within five days—guaranteed. Illness coverage is also available as an add-on, with a simplified underwriting process.
Wide range of clients
This includes clients who don't normally qualilfy for traditional disability products.
No integration or coordination during the 24 first months of the benefit period
During the first 24 months of the benefit period, the monthly amounts will not be integrated or coordinated with other benefits if the monthly amount is $1,000 or less.

Eligibility requirements
Accident coverage
- Be between the ages of 18 and 69 inclusively;
- Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident;
- Not have physical limitations or restrictions;
- Work a minimum of 20 hours per week, 35 weeks per year.
Illness coverage
- Be protected by the SOLO Essential Disability Income Accident coverage;
- Be between the ages of 18 and 64;
- Never had any consultations, received advice, or treatements for:
- Heart attack, stroke, any disease or disorder of the blood vessels, or the heart or brain;
- Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, paralysis, cerebral palsy, Lou Gehrig’s disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS), Huntington’s Chorea, muscular dystrophy, Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia; or any disease or disorder of the brain or nervous system; or
- emphysema, lupus, liver cirrhosis, alcoholic pancreatitis, polycystic kidney disease, cystic fibrosis, any disease or disorder of the immune system; or
- AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome), ARC (AIDS-Related Complex) or never have been tested positive for the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV);
- Must be within the minimum and maximum height and weight guidelines.
Occupation class
- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 5b
Issue age (age to nearest birthday)
- Accident coverage: 18 to 69 years old (Age at last birthday)
- Illness coverage: 18 to 64 years old (Age at last birthday)
Waiting period
- Accident coverage: 0 day, 30 days and 120 days
- Illness coverage: 30 days and 120 days
Benefit period
- 5 years
- Up to age 70
Monthly amount
- Minimum: $500
- Maximum: $6,000 (subject to the occupation class maximum)
Premium structure
Level to age 75 for Accident coverage or to age 70 for Illness coverage
End of coverage
- When client reaches age 75 for Accident coverage or age 70 for Illness coverage
- When the client retires
Renewable
- Accident coverage: Renewable to age 75
- Illness coverage: Renewable to age 70
Definition of total disability
- Regular occupation 36 months

- Based on their insurance coverage, complimentary assistance services are available at any time for your clients and their loved ones:
- They can use them when times are good, or when times are bad.
